Learning Beyond Borders: EGS Students’ Overseas Visit to Singapore and Malaysia
From February 10-14, 2025, students of Edu Global School Bandung took part in an exciting overseas visit to Singapore and Malaysia. The five day journey offered students the opportunity to step outside their familiar surroundings, experience different cultures, and gain valuable lessons through real world experiences. More than a trip, the overseas visit was designed to encourage students to become more independent, confident, adaptable, and open-minded learners.
Discovering International Learning Environments
One of the highlights of the journey was the opportunity to visit international educational institutions in Singapore, including MDIS and OWIS. Through these school tours, students were able to experience different learning environments and gain insights into how education is delivered in an international setting. The visits encouraged students to observe, ask questions, and interact with new environments. Experiencing schools outside Indonesia also helped them understand that there are many different pathways and perspectives in education. For the students, these experiences were not simply about visiting another school. They were opportunities to broaden their horizons and imagine possibilities for their own educational journey in the future.
Experiencing Cultural Diversity
The journey continued to Malaysia, where students had the opportunity to experience a different cultural environment. Through their interactions and exploration, students learned to appreciate the diversity of traditions, lifestyles, and communities in the region. Travelling across two neighboring countries also allowed students to recognize both the similarities and differences between Indonesia, Singapore, and Malaysia. These experiences helped nurture respect, curiosity, and a greater appreciation for cultural diversity.
Growing Through Independence
One of the most valuable aspects of an overseas visit is the opportunity for students to practise independence. Being away from home encouraged students to take responsibility for their personal belongings, manage their time, follow schedules, and adapt to unfamiliar situations. They also learned to communicate and work together with their friends throughout the journey. These simple experiences became meaningful lessons in responsibility, confidence, and adaptability skills that are essential not only at school but also in everyday life.
A Journey to Remember
The 2025 overseas visit to Singapore and Malaysia gave EGS students more than memories and photographs. It provided opportunities to learn from new environments, experience cultural diversity, and see possibilities beyond their everyday surroundings. At Edu Global School, we believe that education should inspire students to explore, experience, and grow. Through international learning experiences such as this, students are encouraged to become confident and independent individuals who are ready to engage with the wider world. Because sometimes, the most meaningful lessons begin when we step beyond the classroom.
